In the misty woods near Sigulda, Latvia, an aspiring natural historian named Liora Zemane followed an old map etched by her great-grandfather. He once claimed a forgotten cave lay hidden among ancient oaks, guarded by creatures older than memory. Liora grew up listening to his tales and dreamed of proving them true. Early morning light filtered through tall pines as she trekked along mossy stones and narrow trails. Her pulse quickened when she saw a shadowed opening behind a fallen birch. She approached with careful steps. A large catfish rested in a shallow pool at the cave’s mouth. Water shimmered along his gleaming scales. His deep eyes examined her with surprising intelligence. He blocked the passage and flicked his tail toward the forest. Liora understood his challenge. He demanded twenty magical raspberries hidden across the woodland paths.
